I hear that consulting businesses can be very lucrative so I figured…’what the hey!’. I decided to leave my real estate practice of which I had sunk over $150,000 into and made like $50k. What a return I know…So having failed at one thing, why not try another? So here I am not sure where I am going but willing to try my hand and see if businesses think my advice is something worth listening to. Check out this guy who gives advice on starting a consulting business:
So this guy Evan Carmichael is telling us to go get a job! I guess that would have been helpful for me if I had joined a real estate team instead of trying to build it myself…Anyways, Evan says to go get a job to get some experience before starting your own thing. He then recommends that you start part-time while working your regular job.
Honestly I don’t know if I could do that right now. I am too much of an entrepreneur who wants to do everything himself and would find it difficult to actually work for someone else at the time. I like to jump with both feet in.
So I would say that if you are going to start your own consulting business make sure you have some money stashed away…like me. You will need the cushion so you have time to fail and build your business without having to go get a job. That’s what I am trying to do. Building a business after my window cleaning company has been one of the hardest times of my working life and I am not through the hump yet but sure trying.
